Celebrating Independence Day
As we look toward July 4th, most of us anticipate gatherings with families and friends, parades, fireworks, corn on the cob, burgers and beers. Growing up, the 4th was spent up at the lake in Minnesota where we would drive the boat into town to watch the small but always impressive fireworks show. Each time was an adventure as we navigated the darkness on the way home and doused ourselves with Off to keep the mosquitos away.
Every year, only on this day, our dad would break out these wonderful patriotic shoes and wear them with pride. For the past 5 years since he passed, they have remained in the same spot in his closet just above the famed terry blazer that we cherish. So this 4th, while honoring our freedom and our founders, the service men and women who make it possible, we will smile at wonderful memories and toast the USA.
